Q. When did the Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival Start? A. 2004 was the first annual Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival in Brandon
Q. How many people attend the Lt. Governor’s Winter Festival each year? A. Attendance for the Lieutenant Governor’s Winter Festival has steadily increased each year. Attendance in 2011 was a record setting 59,503 pavilion visits
Q. Is there any charge for attending the Lieutenant Governor’s Winter Festival? A. No, admission is free. You only pay for food, drink, and memorabilia.
Q. What are the hours of the Lieutenant Governor’s Winter Festival? A. Minimum hours of the festival for all Pavilions are as follows:
*These are minimum required hours. Some pavilions will chose to extend their hours beyond the minimum hours.
Q. Is there any transportation to help me get around between the pavilions? A. Yes. Free ½ hour public transportation bus service is provided on Thursday from 7:00 – 11:00pm, Friday from 7:00 – 12:00 midnight and Saturday from 2:00pm to 12:00 midnight. There is also free Handi-Transit service during the festival. Be sure to call ahead to make your travel arrangements.
Q. Are children allowed at ALL of the pavilions? A. Yes
Q. I noticed donation bins at last year’s festival. What are these for? A. Each year the Winter Festival committee selects 1 or 2 community organizations to make a donation to following the festival. The donations can be cash or in material items as requested by the organization. Some organizations we have made donations to include Westman Women’s Shelter, Samaritan House and Westman Immigrant Services.
Q. How is the Winter Festival managed and organized? A. Executive Committee - The Winter Festival is managed by an Executive Committee (which includes membership from the City of Brandon). There are approximately 8 representatives on the executive committee. The executives do not sit on any individual pavilion committees; however they may become advisors or mentors to individual pavilions.
The executive committee meets outside of the regular scheduled membership committee meetings to discuss the operation of the overall festival.
Winter Festival Committee - Each Pavilion is allowed 2-3 representatives on the Winter Festival Committee. The Winter Festival Committee is chaired by a representative of the City of Brandon or a member of the executive.
